Location

Arkasa is a small town, 16 km from the capital of Karpathos. The ancient Arkesia, as it was initially called, was one of the four ancient towns in Karpathos. Even today you will the see remains of the ancient town.

One of the most important monuments in the region is the Old Christian Basilica of Saint Anastasia from the 5th BC. It has marvelous mosaics, part of which you will see at the church’s yard. The mosaic floor of this church is now kept at Rhodes museum.
Today Arkasa is a modern town which offers almost everything: hotels, rooms to let, restaurants, cafes, shops, etc.

During your stay in the area don’t miss visiting the monasteries of Saint Sofia and Ypapantis.
